This page explains how you can request deletion of your SayTalk account and the personal data associated with it. Please read it carefully before submitting a request.

1. How to request account deletion (two options)

Option 1: Self-service deletion inside the app (recommended, takes effect immediately)

Step 1: Log in to the SayTalk app and open the "Me" tab;
Step 2: Go to "Settings";
Step 3: Tap "Delete Account";
Step 4: Complete identity verification as prompted, read the risk notice, and confirm.

Your account is deactivated immediately. Deletion is irreversible, so please back up anything you need beforehand.

Option 2: Request by email (for users who cannot log in to the app)

Step 1: Send an email to support@saytalk.com from the email address (or an email associated with the phone number) you used to register for SayTalk;
Step 2: Use the subject "Account Deletion Request";
Step 3: In the email, provide your account information (registered phone number/email, account UID or nickname) and state that you request deletion of your account and all associated data;
Step 4: After verifying your identity, we will process the request and reply within 15 business days.

2. What happens when deletion takes effect

1. You can no longer log in, and your access tokens are invalidated immediately;
2. Your profile (nickname, avatar, photos, bio, tags, etc.) is no longer visible to other users;
3. You are removed from other users' following, followers, contacts, search results and recommendations;
4. Deletion cannot be undone. Re-registering with the same phone number or email will not restore or link to the previous account data.

3. Data that will be deleted

The following data will be permanently deleted or anonymized from our production systems within 30 days after account deletion:

1. Account profile: nickname, avatar, gender, date of birth, height, bio, interest tags, etc.;
2. User-generated content: posts, moments, comments, images and other content;
3. Chat data: text messages, voice messages, images, videos, location messages and attachments;
4. Social connections: following, followers, block list and contacts;
5. Media files: images, voice messages and videos stored on our servers;
6. Identifiable personal information in device and service logs (device identifiers, IP addresses, etc.) will be anonymized.

4. Data we are required to retain, and for how long

To comply with applicable laws and regulations, the following data is not deleted immediately and is automatically deleted after the retention period:

1. Transaction and payment records (top-up orders, purchase orders, refunds): retained for 3 years from the transaction date, as required by e-commerce, tax and anti-money-laundering regulations;
2. Reports and safety records (user reports, violation and ban records): retained for 6 months to prevent banned users from circumventing platform safety controls;
3. Backup data: periodic backups are overwritten during the backup rotation cycle (no more than 180 days); backup data is not used for any daily business purpose during this period.

Retained data is access-restricted and is not used to provide any service or marketing to you.

5. Important notes

1. Messages and gifts you sent to other users may remain in their chat history or on their devices; deleting your account does not retract content already delivered to others;
2. Please spend or otherwise handle your diamond balance and membership benefits before deletion; virtual assets cannot be restored or refunded after the account is deleted;
3. If your account is involved in an unresolved dispute, complaint or investigation, deletion will be completed after the matter is resolved.
